SKILL DEVELOPMENT: TAILORING AND GARMENT MAKING

Highlighting the importance, our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi observed:
“The more we give importance to skill development, the more competent will be our youth…. Skill development, speed and scale are the 3 important aspects that are relevant to the present-day growth and development module.”
DISA focused on the development of various skills among the Youth and facilitated a major programme for imparting tailoring and garment making skills at Harraiya, Basti Sadar, Ikauna and Kalwari. An intensive course of 50 days is devoted to transfer theoretical and practical skills to Girls and Women who are grouped in different batches. They are given theoretical input sessions for 2 hours and practical session of 2 hours on each day. The participants as Trainees acquire the skills in Tailoring and Garment Making and will be able to stitch all types of dresses of Ladies and girls and well as shirts and pants for boys.
Besides the technical skills in tailoring, they are imparted General Knowledge, and classes on Life Skills, Savings and Thrift, Kitchen Garden, Health, Personal Hygiene and Family Education, Importance of nutritious and Balanced Diet, Yoga, Causes and Prevention of Disabilities etc. By the end of the Course most of them purchase Stitching Machines and start their own work either at home, or shop or other places for suitable employment.
